Ju-Yi Chia: Spiritual Voyager
Exploring Control and Loss of Control

“Spiritual Voyager” is a controlled state of losing control—a space where we rest and drift through a dreamlike paradise, catching fleeting glimpses of the light within.
This exhibition explores the organic transformation and emergence of imagery from within, shaped not by conscious will but by intuitive flow. At every stage of the creative process, Ju-Yi focuses her attention on the unfolding present—patiently awaiting and sensing spontaneous “happenings.” Though her work may appear to depict external forms, it is, at its essence, a practice of attuning to the magic moment—listening closely to the dialogues between pigment, canvas, image, action, and the inner self. They are speaking, and the artist follows.
Ju-Yi’s recent works are deeply informed by Jungian analytical psychology and a heightened attunement to the unseen rhythms and living energy of the natural world—what Eastern philosophy might call qi, or the breath of life. Her process delicately balances objective self-inquiry with subjective expression, navigating a dynamic interplay between abstraction and figuration, chaos and longing, wildness and stillness. Through cycles of deconstruction and reconstruction, she shapes an artistic cosmos rooted in Eastern thought—reflecting her vision of the interconnectedness of heaven, earth, humanity, and self.
